Mail will be re-directed to a mail processing center before being delivered to the inmate. This service, provided by our new inmate technology and communication vendor, costs taxpayers, families or friends nothing more than the postage stamp on the envelope.

This month’s employee spotlight is Corrections Deputy Salazar! Deputy Salazar joined the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office 12 years ago. Before arriving here, she served in the military and worked with the Missouri Department of Corrections. Deputy Salazar spoke briefly on the difference between jails and prisons, stating that jails have more movement and activity than prisons, due to shorter stay times and court dates.

Reorganize Ingham County jail medical system - Spartan Newsroom
According to Ingham County health officer Linda Vail, the jail needs at least five nurses for inmates to have 24/7 health care. For five years, the jail has been averaging three to four nurses. The jail houses around 600 inmates, according to the county’s website.
